Gym Cost Per Visit Calculator
Example: Monthly membership fee: 45 $ · Visits per week: 3 visits
| Cost per visit | $3 |
| Visits per month | 13 |
| Annual cost | $540 |
Worked example
A $45 monthly membership used three times a week works out to about 3 x 4.33 = 13 visits a month, so each visit costs roughly 45 / 13 = $3.46. That is excellent value. Drop to just twice a month and the same $45 fee suddenly costs $22.50 per visit, and the annual spend of $540 buys very little. The fee never changes; your attendance decides whether it is cheap.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good cost per visit?
There is no universal threshold, but many regulars land under $5 a visit, which usually beats any per-session or drop-in rate. If your cost per visit climbs toward what a single day pass would cost, you are effectively paying premium prices for occasional use and might be better on a pay-per-visit model.
Why does the calculator use 4.33 weeks per month?
A year has 52 weeks spread across 12 months, so an average month is 52 / 12 = 4.33 weeks, not exactly 4. Using 4.33 makes the monthly visit count and the resulting cost per visit accurate rather than slightly optimistic.
Should I cancel if my cost per visit is high?
A high cost per visit is a signal to either use the gym more or switch to a cheaper arrangement like a class pack, a day-pass punch card, or home workouts. Before canceling, check whether a schedule change would raise your attendance, since consistency is worth more than the fee itself.
Does this account for annual or joining fees?
This tool uses your recurring monthly fee. If your gym charges an annual maintenance fee or a one-time joining fee, spread those across the year and add them to your monthly figure for a fully accurate cost per visit.
